Dear Parents and Students,
Welcome to the 2012-2013 school year at Page Primary School. The teachers and staff are committed to making our school “GREAT”. Working together with you we can make this happen.
Part of our commitment to having a great school year requires an understanding and support of some basic information, rules, and procedures. The cooperation of students, parents, and all staff will ensure the effectiveness of these guidelines and provide a safe environment for students to engage in learning. Please take the time to read the handbook, sit down with your child to discuss the expectations, and then check his/her understanding of the role they will take in having a great year at Page Primary School.
We know that traffic during arrival and departure times is sometimes hectic. Please have patience when dropping off and picking up children. Staff members are on duty to help ensure the safety of students and motorists alike; follow their directions for a safe dismissal in the morning and afternoon. We encourage you to study the traffic pattern diagram that is posted on our website (http://www.gaston.k12.nc.us/school/page). It is vital that everyone is familiar with the process for drop off and pick up. Problems occur when someone deviates from the procedures. Once traffic begins to move at 2:30, please allow approximately 20 minutes to get through the traffic line.
Please plan to take an active role in your child’s education. This can be done by communicating regularly with your child’s teacher, working with your child on at-home assignments, and joining the Parent Teacher Organization (PTO). All are ways to help us achieve the goal of continuing to be a “GREAT” school.
You are encouraged to contact the school anytime you have questions or concerns. The school will make every effort to answer any questions relating to your child’s education and will be happy to schedule an appointment with your child’s teacher after 2:45 when he/she is not supervising his/her class.
Thank you for taking your time to read the handbook and taking time to discuss it with your child. We look forward to working with you this year.
