The Gaston Regional Science and Engineering Fair (GRSEF) seeks to encourage independent scientific research and inquiry based learning to promote higher order thinking in students and share opportunities for possible careers.  The research involved in a science fair project can instill an understanding and love of science and teach students to solve problems and analyze data.

GRSEF encourages students to investigate their own questions and interests through scientific inquiry and research.  The student becomes the scientist and when completed, their project combines reading, writing, mathematics, critical thinking, and scientific methodology.  Participation in scientific research exposes students to how scientists and engineers work, components of real-world application and competitive opportunities.

GRSEF is managed and offered through a cooperative partnership between Gaston County Schools, Schiele Museum of Natural History and Gaston Area Cooperative Extension / 4-H.
