Gastonia, N.C. – Big Lots donated $2,500 to Belmont Middle School during a grand opening ceremony held Friday, August 3.

For every grand opening, Big Lots makes a donation to the nearest neighborhood school.

Superintendent L. Reeves McGlohon and several Belmont Middle faculty members attended the ceremony where principal Mark Schultz accepted the check on behalf of the school. Schultz says the money will be put to good use.

“Our classrooms are in need of more graphic calculators and books in our language arts classes” stated Schultz. “This money will greatly benefit student achievement.”

McGlohon added, “We are grateful to Big Lots and all of our community business partners who support our schools and share their resources to enhance the academic experience for children. It is wonderful to have the new Big Lots store in Belmont and we appreciate their willingness to help Belmont Middle School.”

The store is located at 601 Park Street in the Abbey Plaza.
