English 10/11 Information
Students will have Vocabulary tests every Friday this semester. Words will be given on Monday and should be studied every night. The test is a multiple choice format.
The students will focus on writing the first six weeks of class. They are expected to take the 10th grade writing test in March instruction will center around the writing process.
Academic Support Syllabus and Grading
Academic Support is a class to assist with academic skills, review regular classroom material, complete assignments from other classes (homework, class work, projects, and tests) as well as assist with goals on IEP. This class counts as an elective credit.
Class Format:
First 5 minutes – Complete warm up activity while teacher handles administrative duties
15 – 20 minutes – Teacher lesson and activity
Remaining Class Time – Complete assignments from other classes
Last 5 minutes of class – Clean room and gather personal belongings
Grading
Daily Grade
25 points – Materials – pencils/pens, notebooks, paper, books, assignment sheets or any other items needed to complete work
10 points – Opening Activity – journal assignment written on board (topic and response)
25 points – Daily work – completing lesson given by teacher, including writing the objective
40 points – Work Habits – staying busy during class completing assignments or working on IEP goals
IEP Goals Grades
100 points – amount of work completed in two weeks on IEP goals work in green folders. This work is to be completed when you do not bring work from other classes
