Mr. Derrick Jackson, Principal

Mr. Jackson served 8 years in the United States Army and was promoted to the rank of Captain. He also worked two years as a Material and Data Analysis for Solectron Technology and was an instructor at Central Piedmont Community College.

Mr. Jackson has worked with Gaston County Schools for five years. Since starting a career in education, he has worked at Vance High School, Bessemer City High School, and East Gaston High School.

Mr. Jackson has a Bachelor of Science degree in Math Education from Louisiana State University and a Master of Arts degree in School Administration from Gardner Webb University. In his spare time he likes to play tennis and flag-football.  He also does volunteer work with at-risk children.

Mrs. Fran DaCanal, Assistant Principal

Mrs. DaCanal begins her third year as Assistant Principal at Cherryville High School.  Prior to that, she was an Academy Coordinator at the Highland School of Technology, serving on the project team that opened the school in the fall of 2000.  Mrs. DaCanal has previously worked as an Industrial Engineer and taught part-time at Gaston College and UNCC. 

Mrs. DaCanal has a BS in Engineering from the Pennsylvania State University, a MS in Technology Education from NC A&T and a MA in School Administration from UNCC.  She enjoys spending time with family, watching CHS student activities and golfing.
