CAMPUS ATTIRE (DRESS CODE POLICY)

A major focus of high school is preparing students for future careers. Student dress should reflect the fact that there are dress codes and standards in the business world.   All students should dress appropriately, and maintain an appearance that will not in any manner disturb or disrupt class or any school related activity.   In today’s fashion world, there are many styles available to our students and some of them simply are NOT appropriate for school. The following is a list of examples of prohibited items; however, any dress that school officials deem a disturbance or distraction will not be allowed.

• No mesh shirts, cutoff T-shirts, no male tank tops, backless, halter, spaghetti strap or one-shoulder tops. Hem of shirt must overlap top of pant/skirt/short.

All undergarments should be covered at all times.

No pants with holes or torn in inappropriate areas.

• Pants are to be worn at the waist with a belt securely fastened and overall straps are to be fastened properly.

Shoes must be worn at all times.

• Excessively short shorts, skirts or dresses are not allowed.  The correct length can be determined by measuring the shorts/dress/skirt length using a dollar bill. One end of the dollar bill is placed at the kneecap and the other end must touch the hem of the skirt, shorts or dress (applies to both front and back lengths).

• No pajamas or bedroom slippers.

• No clothing with indecent language or pictures, or containing alcohol, drug, or tobacco related messages.

• No hats, bandanas, any other headwear, or sunglasses inside the building.

• No clothing that is associated with or denotes gangs or gang related activity.

In the event that a student is determined to be in violation of the dress code, or dressed in any way that disrupts school, a parent will be notified and the student will be required to change clothing in order to proceed with his/her normal day.

*Repeated dress code violations will result in disciplinary action.
