Welcome to the Grier Middle School Counseling Department

We are always happy to meet with parents, students and teachers. In order to best meet your child's needs, we have divided the counseling assignments as follows:

 

Mrs. Warren - works with the entire 8th grade and the Navigator (Hinton, Daniel, Thurlow, and Edge) Team in 7th Grade.

Ms. Washington -works with the entire 6th grade and the Crusader (Allen, Hughes, Hunter, and Rowe) Team in the 7th Grade.

IMPORTANT HIGH SCHOOL REGISTRATION DATES TO REMEMBER:

 

  • Monday, February 18: Open House at Highland from 5:30-7:00 pm. This is opportunity for students and parents to get additional information, meet the faculty, tour the school, and ask any questions about Highland.
  • Thursday, February 28: All applications to Highland must either be delivered or postmarked by this date. No exceptions.
  • Thursday, March 14: Highland Lottery in the Highland Auditorium beginning at 4:00 pm.
  • Monday, February 18 and Thursday, February 21:  Parent information meetings for Gaston Early College High School at 6:00 pm in the Myers Center at Gaston College. 
  • Friday, February 22: 9:00 am - Ashbrook High School will be in the Audtorium to speak to Rising 9th graders about the Registration Process.  
  • Tuesday, February 26 and Wednesday, February 27:  Ashbrook Counselors will be at Grier to register Rising 9th graders who are in the Ashbrook Feeder District.
  • Friday, February 15:  Hunter Huss Counselors will be at Grier to register Rising 9th graders who are in the Hunter Huss Feeder District.
  • As other information comes available, it will be posted here.  Please check back often.

Announcements:

 Rising 6th Grade Orientation- Wednesday, March 20 at 9:00 am.  If you have questions, please contact Ms. Washington.

 

The Bullying Box - A box is available outside Mr. Ross's office for students to anonymously report school bullying.  If you have any questions or you need to report bullying, please contact your child's teacher, an administrator, or a counselor.

 

Parent Volunteers Wanted! - Grier is looking for parents who would like to volunteer this year.  If you are interested in volunteering any any capacity, please call the school.  

 

Mentors Wanted- If any adults are interested in becoming a Grier Mentor, please contact the Counseling Office.
