Parent Teacher Organization

Lowell Elementary’s P.T.O. is very active in our school’s operation. One becomes a member of the P.T.O. by paying membership dues. Parents, grandparents, aunts, and uncles are all encouraged to join. Show YOUR support of our school by joining the Lowell P.T.O. and attending all P.T.O. meetings.

Volunteer Opportunities

There will be many opportunities for parents to volunteer at Lowell Elementary this year!  If you would like to volunteer in any way this year, please speak to your classroom teacher.

 Greenblatt Act

House Bill 1032 - Greenblatt Act

Gaston County Schools Strategic Plan ensures a safe and orderly learning environment for all students and staff.  House Bill 1032 became effective July 1, 2006.  All local education agencies in North Carolina are expected to:

  • Train all school personnel regarding the permissible use of restraint, seclusion and isolation in order to manage disruptive and dangerous student behaviors.
  • Notice, report and document all permissible and prohibitive incidences involving restraint, seclusion and isolation.
  • Notify all parents or guardians of all local board policies developed to implement the mandates in House Bill 1032.

A complete copy of House Bill 1032 may be found on the Gaston County Schools website (http://www.gaston.k12.nc.us) and at the Gaston County Public Library.  Each classroom teacher also has a copy.
