We are implementing the SRA Direct Instruction Reading Mastery Signature Series in our room this year with all students to improve and facilitate development of each student's reading skills.  This program has over forty years of valid research.

Lessons include components for decoding, comprehension, fluency, and writing.

All instruction and learning activities are completed in class during whole group reading sessions.  Therefore, we do not have reading homework this year.

So far, the students are demonstrating proficiency with the lessons.  Every day, I am amazed at the progress the students are making. 

As always, please continue to set aside a time to read with your student.  Encourage your student to read as much as possible at home as this is another research-based strategy that reinforces reading growth and development.

Mathematics is individualized according to each student's specific needs for those who qualify.

Some students are working with SRA Language for Learning which is another Direct Instruction research-based  program to enhance language development and reinforce readiness for reading.
