This is my seventeenth year at North Belmont. When I was attending Belmont Abbey College to become a teacher, I would pass by this lovely school everyday and say to myself, "That is where I want to teach". However when I graduated, Charlotte-Mecklenburg hired me immediately. I taught middle school there one year, and realized my true calling was to teach at North Belmont.
It is very rewarding to work with the staff, parents, and students at this school. Sometimes when I am in one of the local stores or in the neighborhood, I will see some of our students and parents which is a special experience. North Belmont is unique because of the community and family connections that keep this school strong and vibrant. Truly, I enjoy teaching anything and reading educational research to improve my skills and keep current on teaching strategies.
My degrees and certifications include:
B.S. in Special Education K-12
Master of Arts in Elementary Education K-6
Visually Impaired K-12
Reading Specialist K-12
English as a Second Language K-12
National Board Certification Early Childhood Generalist
