Dear Parents and Students,
I am very excited about working with you this year! I love teaching! This is my 5th year of teaching. I was here at Page Primary last year and absolutely loved it! I taught 2nd grade for 3 years at Edward Sadler Elementary.
I grew up in Kalamazoo, Michigan. I went to Eastern Michigan University, where I received my undergraduate degree in Elementary Education. For fun (and for a scholarship) I ran cross-country and track at Eastern! I just got married on August 2, 2008, and also received my master’s degree in Elementary Education at Gardner-Webb University on the same day!
I like spending time with family and friends, traveling, games, music, movies and ice cream. I also like spending time with my cat Scooter and my husband. I’m also a huge Michigan Football Fan!
My parents still reside in Kalamazoo, Michigan. My mom is a nursing instructor at a community college. My dad works as an oil truck driver. I have 2 younger brothers. My youngest brother (Zach) is a sophomore and attends the same community college where my mom works. My other brother (Josh) graduated from Oakland University and works at Daimler Chrysler, as a mechanical engineer. My husband works as a computer engineer, he works for DataNetworks but is contracted to work for the school system.
Three years ago, I traveled to Europe with my brother Josh. We went to Spain, France, Italy and Greece. I have also done some mission work in Hungary, Romania and Ukraine. Last November I went to China! This past summer, I went to Alaska!
Mrs. Joan Widenhouse will be my assistant this year. She was my assistant last year! We like working together! She enjoys art, animals and caring for the environment as well as working with kids.
Now you know a little bit about me, and I am looking forward to getting to know all of you during the upcoming school year!
