Online Learning opportunities in Gaston County Schools are provided through the NC Virtual Public School.

Key reasons that we provide these opportunities for our students include:

  • Equity and Access to Opportunity
  • Identification of Diverse Learning Styles
  • Extensive Selection of Course Offerings
  • Enhanced Medium of Communication for Teaching and Learning

WHO ARE THE TEACHERS?

All NCVPS courses are taught by North Carolina certified teachers who are experts in their subject matter and have been trained to teach effectively in an online environment. Teachers and students interact regularly through email, voice mail, telephone conversations, and instant messenger. Students are encouraged to contact the teacher when there is a need of any kind.  In addition, the Distance Learning Advisor can serve as a liaison for the student if necessary in some cases.

"Virtual learning is about options. To compete in a global economy, kids need to learn in the classroom, on a computer, and through other technologies. A virtual public school means students have access to high quality teaching and learning regardless of their zip code."  -Governor Bev Perdue
