Hi! My name is April Deal. This is my second year teaching at Pleasant Ridge Elementary. I have a bachelors degree in Communication from Appalachian State University and a Masters in Education from UNCC. I started my teaching career as a substitute teacher while working on my masters, then moved into a TA position until my final transition into my own classroom. 

I was born in Boise, Idaho, but have been in NC for most of my life. In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my husband and kids. We enjoy traveling, going to the Whitewater Center and gardening.  

My name is Miss Springs! I started working with children when I turned 16 at an after-school/summer camp. I stayed there for about 11 years. I have always known I wanted to be a teacher. I went to East Lincoln High School and graduated from UNC Charlotte in May 2017.  I also received my AIG license through UNC Pembroke. This is my sixth year of teaching. I love getting to be part of the Pleasant Ridge community!

My goal as a teacher is to help the students realize just how loved and appreciated they are. I want them to always have a safe space when they walk into our classroom. I also hope to foster a love of learning in all of my students. Being an AIG teacher as well, I hope to challenge my students each day to help them reach their full potential! 

I bought my first house in Denver, NC in 2020. I have grown up there my whole life and absolutely love the area! I have a fabulous black lab mix named Luna! I believe spending time with family and friends is so important and I love spending that with my parents and my older brother!
