Forestview High School takes pride in students earning Advanced Placement (AP) honors

Although a new school year is here, it’s never too late to look back and celebrate a success for the Class of 2025.  That’s what Forestview High School is doing with its Collegiate Prep Academy.

The school is bringing attention to what seniors in the Class of 2025 achieved when it comes to Advanced Placement (AP) courses.  All seniors in the Academy – 23 of them – earned the AP Seminar and Research Certificate.  Twelve of the students went a step further by earning the AP Capstone Diploma distinction, meaning they completed the seminar and research requirements and earned a passing score on four or more AP tests.

This is a significant achievement, according to Academy coordinator Genevieve Comer, who points out that it takes a lot of work, study, and preparation to reach the AP Capstone Diploma level.  Students Lilith Bentley, Kwaaba Eshun, Sadie Forbes, Molly Forgan, Lilly Friday, Savannah Grubbs, Graham Kines, Jaye Lopez, Prachi Patel, Tristan Peyton, Taylor Royston, and Catherine Zeigler emerged as the school’s AP Capstone Diploma Scholars for 2025.

In addition to the honors bestowed on seniors in the Class of 2025, Forestview had 50 students earn the AP Scholar award, 16 students captured the AP Scholar with Honor award, and 24 students received the AP Scholar with Distinction award.  The award levels are based on how well students performed on AP tests and how many AP tests they took; some students took as many as five or more tests and scored a three or higher (five is the highest possible score).

The Collegiate Prep Academy at Forestview is part of Gaston County Schools’ school choice program that offers 17 magnet schools and academies for students related to the following areas: careers, college prep, healthcare/medical sciences, leadership, performing arts, and STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics).  Students enrolled in the Collegiate Prep Academy say the program prepares them for the rigor of college-level studies and puts them at an advantage when taking college courses.
