South Point High School senior Courtney Gazda has gone above and beyond expectations to excel in school even when faced with unexpected obstacles.
In November 2014, Courtney was injured in a car accident when another driver, who was texting while driving, hit her vehicle. She suffered serious injuries to her neck, back, and knees. At that moment, it would have been easy to give up, but she didn’t.
Despite missing a significant amount of school during her recovery, Courtney chose to stay positive and focus on the big picture. She continued to work toward her goal of earning a high school diploma.
With graduation in sight, Courtney is looking to what comes next. She will attend Gaston College this fall and then transfer to N.C. State University to study veterinary medicine.
