Born in the Philippines, Denise Sanchez and her family moved to the United States after her first-grade year. She had to overcome many cultural barriers, but it didn’t impede her desire to succeed. That’s evident as she will graduate at the top of her class from East Gaston High School.
A talented artist who is eager to absorb new techniques, Denise works hard to perfect her current skills and spends countless hours drawing and creating murals. That’s in addition to her school work for Advanced Placement (AP) classes.
Denise earned recognition at the Gaston County Art Awards and won a Regional Scholastic Silver Key Award for sculpture. Her interest in art will continue when she attends N.C. State University to major in art and design with a concentration in animation.
