Chromebooks for Christmas!

  • We would like to tell you about an exciting new initiative we are doing here at John Chavis Middle School. To help our school become a one-to-one technology school, we would like to introduce our "Chromebooks for Christmas" campaign. We are planning to raise $20,000 beginning on November 26 and running through December 31, 2018.

Currently, there are 419 students enrolled at John Chavis Middle School and we would like for all students to be able to have equal access to technology. Right now, teachers share chromebook carts because there just is not enough to go around. Teachers are still making lots of copies to give to students because of the lack of access to technology. This incurs large costs that are not provided in our state budget. With 60.71% of our student population being economically disadvantaged, this ranks John Chavis Middle School as the third highest economically disadvantaged middle school in Gaston County Schools. With your assistance, we are confident that we can reach our goal to bridge this economic gap.

You have the unique opportunity to be a part of our school by donating to this wonderful initiative.  You can donate directly to our school by mailing a check to our school or dropping it off at school. Parents can donate by clicking the link below.

I thank you in advance for your giving spirit! Any amount you are able to give is very much appreciated. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact Elishia Oliver at 704-836-9606 or by e-mail at
