Wherever he goes, Fisher Stines is a leader. At Forestview High School, Stines is vice president of the student body, the drum major of the marching band, and the president of the German Club.
In the Boy Scouts, Stines has held the position of National Youth Leadership Trainer for two years and is currently a Scout Instructor, teaching skills and outdoor activities to younger Scouts.
His Scout activities also gave him the chance to present a speech on a national stage. In 2012, he stepped on stage together with Rex Tillerson, CEO of Exxon Mobil and national president of Boy Scouts of America, to help in honoring the late Duke Kimbrell, former chairman of Parkdale Mills, when he received the Distinguished Eagle Scout Award.
Stines excels in the classroom as well, having been selected to participate in the Gastonia Sister Cities program to travel to Gotha, Germany and receiving numerous band honors. This winter, he was one of two students chosen to represent Forestview at the Winthrop University Honor Band Clinic.
Stines will conclude his studies at Forestview by graduating in the top 10 in the class. And he is preparing to become a leader at his next stage of education. In the fall, Stines is headed to N.C. State University where he plans to pursue a career in medicine.
