We want our student-athletes and their parents to know that Gaston County Schools uses the DragonFly Max online system to manage all required athletic forms. To get started, visit dragonflymax.com and create a free account. The platform simplifies the process of completing and submitting forms.
Our Sports: A Source of Pride for Gaston County SchoolsÂ
We offer 10 sports at the middle school level and 13 sports for high school students. Athletic programs in Gaston County Schools emphasize academic success in the classroom, student attendance in school, and good sportsmanship on and off the field. All student-athletes must be in good academic standing and adhere to county and state regulations in academics and attendance.
Our high school teams participate in state-approved conferences against schools in the surrounding area. Ashbrook, Forestview, Hunter Huss, North Gaston, and South Point compete in the Big South 5A/6A conference. Bessemer City, Cherryville, Stuart W. Cramer, East Gaston, and Highland participate in the Southern Piedmont 2A/3A/4A conference. All 11 middle schools compete in a Gaston County conference.
For more information on specific sports offered in our middle and high schools, contact the school principal or athletic director.

High School Conferences
The N.C. High School Athletic Association has created an eight-level classification system for schools; our teams will play for four years (2025-2029) in one of two conferences (conference classification is based on student enrollment). Gaston County teams will face schools from neighboring Cleveland and Lincoln counties, setting up some new conference rivalries and rekindling some old ones.
