  • OUTSTANDING SENIOR:  Jennifer Chan
Jennifer Chan The opportunities Jennifer Chan received at the Highland School of Technology helped to send her on her way to Los Angeles. This fall, she will study at Loyola Marymount University, one of the top film schools in the country, to pursue her dream of a career as a director.

Chan studied in the graphics pathway at Highland, which gave her opportunities to learn about editing, animation, producing and directing. She created several documentaries and a public service announcement for reducing stress. These earned her spots in three summer film classes, including a prestigious two-week film academy at Yale University.

A member of Highland’s Technology Student Association (TSA), Chan also held leadership roles in organization’s state chapter. This gave her the chance to help plan annual regional and state conferences, including the staging and lighting.

She also participated in the school’s award-winning TEAMS club (Tests of Engineering Aptitude, Mathematics, and Science) and Future Business Leaders of America, earning prizes for digital video production, computer game and simulation programming, and t-shirt design, among others.
Congratulations, Jennifer Chan -- an outstanding senior in the Gaston County Schools Class of 2015!
