OUTSTANDING SENIOR: Kaleb Setzer
Kaleb Setzer knows how to set big goals and then achieve them. If you’ve visited Goat Island Park in Cramerton, you’ve seen one of his many accomplishments: the 140-foot long boardwalk he built as his Eagle Scout project this year.Setzer spent 165 hours on this project, raising more than $1,300 in donations and then coordinating 20 Scout and adult volunteers over several workdays to complete the boardwalk.
This came on top of his schoolwork and other extracurricular activities, of which there are many.
In his years at Stuart W. Cramer High School, Setzer has served in a leadership role with the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, has been part of the Interact and Beta clubs, and has volunteered with his church youth group and the Salvation Army.
In addition, he has played football, soccer and baseball, collecting numerous awards along the way. He’s been a soccer team captain for three years and earned the Sportsmanship Award three times in a row for the baseball team. He also received the coaches award for both baseball and soccer.
Setzer has earned scholarships from the Boy Scouts and the Athletic Booster Club to help him on his way to Appalachian State University where he will be majoring in exercise science and looking forward to a career in physical therapy.
Congratulations, Kaleb Setzer -- an outstanding senior in the Gaston County Schools Class of 2016!
