OUTSTANDING SENIOR: Kendrik Icenhour
South Point High School valedictorian Kendrik Icenhour is headed to Duke University as a recipient of the prestigious Trinity Scholarship, which covers full tuition, fees, room and board, and a small stipend for books as well as additional funds for research and other educational opportunities.
Icenhour, who plans to major in chemistry or biomedical engineering at Duke, achieved success in a wide range of activities at South Point.
He was a member of the Quiz Bowl team, which took second place in the county this year, as well as the Model UN Club and the track and cross country teams.
A talented writer, Icenhour also plays the viola and assisted with research in molecular biology at Summer Ventures in Science and Mathematics, a program for some of the most academically talented students in North Carolina.
