Information for new students applying for school choice
If you are new to Gaston County Schools (not enrolled currently) and interested in applying for our choice programs, please note that part of the application process includes district assessments in math and reading.
To qualify for acceptance into the lottery, all applicants who are in the eighth grade and do not attend a school in Gaston County Schools must complete the district assessment. This assessment will be administered at the Rader Staff Development Center, 240 Eighth Avenue, Cramerton, from 3:00-5:00 p.m. on the following dates:
Reading Assessment: March 25 and March 27
Math Assessment: March 31 and April 4
Students are required to choose one date for the reading assessment and one date for the math assessment.
