OUTSTANDING SENIOR: Tyler Rapp
Tyler Rapp had a hard choice to make, but one that most high school seniors wouldn’t mind facing. The East Gaston High School student landed two highly competitive full-tuition scholarship offers: the Levine Scholarship at UNC-Charlotte and the Park Scholarship at N.C. State University. In the end, he chose the Levine Scholarship, a total package of $105,000 that will offer him additional educational opportunities at UNC-Charlotte.Rapp, who is interested in math and science and considering a medical career, had numerous achievements at East Gaston, including winning a trip to the HOSA (Health Occupations Students of America) national conference in the medical math competition. In addition, he founded the school’s Project UNIFY club, a Special Olympics-sponsored program that brings together students with and without disabilities to create a culture of acceptance and respect. In the future, Rapp will contribute even more to the community thanks to the Levine Scholarship, which includes a grant for him to create and launch his own community service project.
Congratulations, Tyler Rapp -- an outstanding senior in the Gaston County Schools Class of 2015!
