    OUTSTANDING SENIOR:  Valery Briceno 
     
    Valery Briceno A talented student and athlete at Ashbrook High School, Valery Briceno had the option to attend either Davidson College or UNC-Chapel Hill on a full-tuition scholarship.

    She was one of only 501 students in the country to earn a QuestBridge College Match Scholarship, which would have paid her way through Davidson College.

    Through a combination of scholarships, she also won a full ride to UNC-Chapel Hill where she plans to attend and major in business administration. Eventually, she hopes to earn an MBA.

    Briceno excels in the most rigorous academic coursework at Ashbrook, but soccer is her passion.

    In addition to varsity soccer at Ashbrook, she plays competitive club soccer with the Carolina Rapids Region III Premier and serves as captain for both teams. She is also a leader off the field.

    A Tar Heel Girls’ State and Gaston County Commissioners’ School attendee, Briceno is president of the Interact Club, serves on Civinettes and is vice president of the Environmental Club.
