My name is Garey Coke, and it is my true honor to be one of the Assistant Principal at Southwest Middle School. I am thrilled to be a part of an extraordinary team of educators, scholars, and administrators. It is a joy to serve our learning community and contribute to a successful school year in every way I can. 

 At Southwest, our scholars are prepared to blossom as 21st-century learners as they explore real-world issues and participate in meaningful learning. The staff and administrative team holds the highest standards for all scholars while providing a safe and nurturing environment. 

 I am excited about collaborating with our dedicated staff, community, and administrative team to help provide the finest academic experience for our scholars.  I know that this is going to be a great year at Southwest Middle School! I am a product of Gaston County Schools, a proud alumna of Ashbrook High School.  I am a Summa Cum Laude graduate of Belmont Abbey College and began my career as an elementary school teacher in 2007.  As a part of the Woodhill Elementary School family I had the opportunity to serve 3rd, 4th, and 5th grader students,from 2007-2015, these were among the best years of my life. Being afforded the opportunity to serve as an instructional coach I worked alongside the Southwest Middle School faculty as a Math Support Teacher during the 2015-2018 school years.  Serving as the Dean of Students at Southwest Middle School during the 2018-2019 school fostered my transition into school administration. I graduated from Gardner-Webb University with a Masters in Educational Leadership in 2019. I am proud to serve Gaston County Schools as Assistant Principal at Southwest Middle School. I look forward to working with Gaston County Schools for many years to come.
