Desiree Lackey
Desiree Lackey has worked as a school counselor since 2007 when she moved from Upstate New York to North Carolina after completing graduate school. She has four years experience as an elementary counselor and ten years as a high school counselor. She worked for fourteen years in Lincoln County Schools before accepting the GECMS school counselor position. Mrs. Lackey is excited to share her past experiences with college, career, and dual enrollment counseling with GECMS students. One of Mrs. Lackey's favorite parts about being a school counselor is helping students discover who they are and what they aspire to be. Mrs. Lackey is a National Board certified School Counselor and a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor, which means she is a fantastic resource for students who may need extra help in their social and emotional worlds (not just academic). Mrs. Lackey has an open door policy, and no appointment is required for GECMS students to see her during the school day.
