Administrative appointments and transfers for 2024-2025

Administration Appointments for 2024-2025, Gaston County Schools 

The following school and central-level administration appointments and transfers are effective for the 2024-2025 academic year.
 
New Principal Appointments
▪ Caroline Black was appointed to serve as the principal at Cherryville Elementary School.  She previously served as the beginning teacher support coordinator in the Human Resources Department.

▪ Kelsey Elms was appointed to serve as the principal at Hunter Huss High School.  She previously served as an assistant principal at South Point High School.
 
▪ Kelli Glisan was appointed to serve as the principal at New Hope Elementary School.  She previously served as the assistant principal at J.V. Washam Elementary School in Cornelius.
 
▪ Miriam Harvey was appointed to serve as the principal at John Chavis Middle School.  She previously served as the principal at James Love Elementary School in Shelby.
 
▪ Taner Jarrett was appointed to serve as the principal at Warlick Academy.  He previously served as a director for the Department for Exceptional Children.

▪ Nicole Lawson was appointed to serve as the principal at Hawks Nest STEAM Academy.  She previously served as the assistant principal at Costner Elementary School.
 
▪ Anna Miller was appointed to serve as the principal at Bessemer City Central Elementary School.  She previously served as the assistant principal at Mount Holly Middle School.

▪ Sharon Potts was appointed to serve as the principal at the Gaston Virtual Academy.  She previously served as the director for alternative education.
 
▪ Allison Rhyne was appointed to serve as the principal at Stanley Middle School.  She previously served as the principal at Lincolnton Middle School.

▪ William Winston was appointed to serve as the principal at Robinson Elementary School.  He previously served as an assistant principal at Hunter Huss High School.

Principal Transfers
▪ April Conley was transferred to serve as the principal at Lowell Elementary School.  She previously served as the principal at Bessemer City Central Elementary School.
 
▪ Todd Goff was transferred to serve as the principal at Bessemer City Primary School.  He previously served as the principal at J.B. Page Primary School.
 
▪ Rebecca Huffstetler was transferred to serve as the principal at East Gaston High School.  She previously served as the principal at Stanley Middle School.

▪ Bill Kessler was transferred to serve as the principal at J.B. Page Primary School.  He previously served as the principal at Bessemer City Primary School.
 
▪ Kristin Kiser was transferred to serve as the principal at Belmont Central Elementary School.  She previously served as the principal at Lowell Elementary School.

▪ Adair McKay was transferred to serve as the principal at W.C. Friday Middle School.  She previously served as the principal at the Gaston Virtual Academy.
 
▪ Jessica Mellon was transferred to serve as the principal at W.P. Grier Middle School.  She previously served as the principal at Bessemer City Middle School.

▪ Tammy Mims was transferred to serve as the principal at Forestview High School.  She previously served as the principal at Hawks Nest STEAM Academy.

▪ Matt Rikard was transferred to serve as the principal at Ashbrook High School.  He previously served as the principal at John Chavis Middle School.
 
▪ Aimee Tolleson was transferred to serve as the principal at Cramerton Middle School.  She previously served as the principal at Belmont Central Elementary School.

▪ Lynn Whiteside was transferred to serve as the principal at W.B. Beam Intermediate School.  She previously served as the principal at New Hope Elementary School.

▪ Page Willis was transferred to serve as the principal at North Gaston High School.  She previously served as the principal at W.C. Friday Middle School.
 
▪ Rebecca Wilson was transferred to serve as the principal at Bessemer City Middle School.  She previously served as the principal at Ashbrook High School.

New Assistant Principal Appointments
▪ Waheebah al-Uqdah was named an assistant principal at North Gaston High School.  She previously served as the health sciences academy coordinator at Highland School of Technology.

▪ Alice Ballard was named an assistant principal at South Point High School.  She previously served as a teacher at East Gaston High School.

▪ Katherine Cochran was named an assistant principal at Holbrook Middle School.  She previously served as a Principal Fellow at Holbrook Middle School and a teacher at North Belmont Elementary School. 

▪ Stephanie Crump was named an assistant principal at Southwest Middle School.  She previously served as a teacher at Southwest Middle School.

▪ Shanti Hinkle was named an assistant principal at Belmont Middle School.  She previously served as a teacher at Cramerton Middle School.

▪ Anna Lineberger was named the assistant principal at John Chavis Middle School.  She previously served as a teacher in the Fort Mill School District.   

▪ Emily Morton was named the assistant principal at Rankin Elementary School.  She previously served as a teacher at Lowell Elementary School.

▪ Akera Patterson was named an assistant principal at W.C. Friday Middle School. She previously served as an instructional coach at Lingerfeldt Elementary School.

▪ Gloria Powell was named an assistant principal at Ashbrook High School.  She previously served as a Principal Fellow at Pleasant Ridge Elementary School and a teacher at John Chavis Middle School. 

Central Office Appointments
▪ Susie Bradley was named the director for student assignment in the Student Support Services Department.  She previously served as a student information system specialist in the Accountability and Testing Department.

▪ Kelly Cunningham was named the chief accountability officer in the Academic Services Department. She previously served as the director of data use for school improvement for Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools.

▪ Bryan Denton was named an executive director for secondary instruction in the Academic Services Department.  He previously served as the principal at Hunter Huss High School.

▪ Kevin Doran was named an executive director for secondary instruction in the Academic Services Department.  He previously served as the principal at Cramerton Middle School.

▪ Kathleen Koch was named the director for Academically or Intellectually Gifted (AIG) programs in the Academic Services Department.  She previously worked for the College Board.

▪ Tom Nencetti was named the director for district planning and special projects in the Superintendent’s Office.  He previously served as the Channel 21 program manager in the Communications Department.

▪ Jamie Peoples was named the director for employee relations in the Human Resources Department.  She previously served as the principal at Forestview High School.

▪ Emily Poag was named the director for pre-kindergarten in the Academic Services Department.  She previously served as the principal at Robinson Elementary School.

▪ Sarah Rector was named the director for professional development in the Academic Services Department.  She previously served as the director of Gaston Blended in the Student Support Services Department.
