Mrs. Kimberly Murrell

6th Grade Counselor

Mrs. Murrell is orginally from Wadesboro NC moved to Charlotte where she graduated from East Mecklenburg Hish School. Graduated from Clark Atlanta University with a Bachelor of Science in Community Health Education. Mrs. Murrell worked in Public Health for 14 years ( private and public sector). 2017 Mrs. Murrell graduated from Montreat College with a Masters in Clinical Mental Health and join the Southwest Middle family February 2018.

Mrs. Kathryn Watts

7th Grade Counselor

Mrs. Watts was born and raised in Gaston County and graduated from Ashbrook High School. She attended Appalachian State University, graduating with a Bachelor of Social Work Degree. After working for a number of years as a social worker, she returned to school and obtained her Master's in School Counseling from Gardner-Webb University. Mrs. Watts worked as a high school counselor at Hunter Huss High School before joining the Southwest Middle School family in August of 2015.

Mrs. Lindsay Weathers

8th Grade Counselor

Mrs. Weathers was born outside of Detroit, Michigan and lived in McKinney, Texas until the summer before seventh grade, when her family moved to the Charlotte region. A graduate of Northwest Cabarrus High School (c/o 2005), Mrs. Weathers continued her education by obtaining her Bachelors of Arts in Psychology from UNC Charlotte (c/o 2009) and her Master of Arts/Education Specialist in Mental Health Counseling from Gardner-Webb University (c/o 2012). Mrs. Weathers holds her Licensed Professional Counselor credential through the NC Board of Licensed Professional Counselors, and prior to joining the Southwest staff in 2017, practiced mental health counseling in the Gastonia and surrounding areas for different community agencies. When not at Southwest, Mrs. Weathers enjoys spending time with her husband and children, cheering for Clemson University, and crafting!
