    A list of dates for upcoming Senior events and Graduation information may be found if you scroll down under the "Parents and Students" tab  and click on "For Students"

    Make sure you have:

    • Paid all fines to the school (library, sports, band, etc.).
    • Turned in all scholarships and college acceptance information to your counselor.
    • Ordered and paid for a Cherryville High School Cap and Gown.

    Graduation attire information can also be found by clicking on "For Students".

  • Students selected for Governor’s School 2017


    Twelve high school students from Gaston County Schools were selected to attend the 2017 session of the prestigious North Carolina Governor’s School. The program is a summer enrichment experience that provides an opportunity for outstanding students to explore the latest developments, problems, and theories in the various fields of the arts and science.

  • Star Students honor Star Teachers at ceremony


    The annual Star Teacher-Student Awards ceremony presented by Gaston County Schools and sponsored by The Gaston Gazette was held Thursday, April 6 at the Schiele Museum. Each high school and Webb Street School selected an outstanding senior in the Class of 2017 and that student chose a teacher who had the greatest influence on his or her life. Each Star Student honored his or her Star Teacher during the ceremony.

  • Student applications accepted for magnet schools


    Gaston County Schools is accepting student applications for two of its magnet school programs: the Hawks Nest STEAM Academy and the new Gifted and Talented Academy at Pleasant Ridge Elementary School. The deadline for parents to submit an online application is Monday, May 15 at 5:00 p.m. The two Academy programs will provide students with outstanding academic and extracurricular opportunities with a concentration on accelerated teaching and learning.

  • Teachers earn prestigious National Board Certification


    Six outstanding teachers in Gaston County Schools were recognized on Tuesday, March 28 during the National Board Certified Teachers Reception. The teachers are part of an elite group of educators who have earned National Board Certification, which is the highest standard for the teaching profession. The certification is made available through the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards (NBPTS).

  • Benefits Fair for employees is Thursday

     

    The annual Employees Benefits Fair is this Thursday, April 27 from 3:00 - 5:30 p.m. at Sandy Plains Baptist Church, 5323 Union Road, Gastonia. Employees will have an opportunity to receive information about available benefits and also meet with Pierce Group representatives about enrolling or changing optional benefits for 2017-2018. For more information, call the Human Resources Department.

  • Board of Education “forgives” snow day

     

    Just in case you are wondering about the one snow day from January that had not been made up, no need to wonder anymore. The Board of Education voted during its April 10 meeting to “forgive” the day. There are enough instructional hours remaining in the school calendar; therefore, students do not have to make up the day. You may recall that students missed school on January 9 and 10 because of inclement weather, and January 24 was used to make up one of the days.

  • Kindergarten and Pre-Kindergarten Registration

     

    Kindergarten and pre-kindergarten registration for the 2017-2018 school year will be held in May at the former Forest Heights Elementary School, #1 Learning Place, Gastonia. Registration will take place at Forest Heights for all elementary schools during the following times: Saturday, May 6 from 8:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. and Monday, May 8 through Friday, May 12 from 7:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. each day.
