Loretta Reed

Hello Woodhill Families! My name is Loretta Reed, your principal at Woodhill Elementary School.  I am looking forward to an awesome year.

I started my career teaching 5th grade in Starr, SC before moving to Gaston County.  After joining the Gaston County School system, I have had the opportunity to teach at Hancock Elementary, Brookside Elementary, Holbrook Middle School, Ashbrook High School, and Southwest Middle School.  After teaching in Charlotte for 2.5 years, I returned to Gaston County as an Assistant Principal at North Gaston High School and York Chester Middle School.  I've spent the last four years as the Principal at Grier Middle School.  As you can see, I have had a variety of experiences at different levels, but I feel as if I’ve just begun!

I sincerely believe that... “It’s All About the H.Y.P.E! (Helping Young People Excel).  All students can learn in a structured, safe, and supportive learning environment.  Since all students don’t master skills at the same time, it is up to educators to monitor and analyze student data to best determine how to meet the students’ needs to ensure success.  99.5 isn’t good enough when working with children.  Educators must have the drive and passion to work with students to prepare them for the 21st century.

As we begin our journey together in the fall, do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions.  Since I am rarely in my office during the day, all calls will be returned within 24 hours.  Your children are my top priority during the school day, so I will be in and out of their classrooms observing them in action!  I love being a part of the learning environment!
