Mrs. Tyler West

Mrs. Tyler West is excited for her fourth year leading the amazing students and staff at Pinewood Elementary!

Mrs. West grew up in Gastonia and is a product of Gaston County Schools. After graduating from Ashbrook High School, she earned a Bachelors degree in Elementary Education from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. In 2011, she earned a Masters in School Administration from Appalachian State University.

Mrs. West loves the Mount Holly community, where she taught for seven years. As a teacher, she received her National Board Certification, served as a Pinnacle Technology Leader, and was selected as the Teacher of the Year for her school. During her career in education, she has also served as a middle school Assistant Principal for two years and as the principal of Sherwood Elementary for four years. 

Mrs. West was selected to represent her colleagues as Gaston County Schools' 2021-2022 Principal of the Year.

In her free time, Mrs. West enjoys spending time with her husband and their two young children. She also loves Tar Heel athletics, traveling, swimming, music and musicals.
