Degrees and Certifications:

Audrey Hovis

My name is Audrey Hovis and I am originally from Union, SC. I graduated from Spartanburg Methodist College in 2000, where I obtained an Associates degree in Early Childhood Education. I also attended Winthrop University, where I received my Bachelor's degree in 2003. After marriage and one son later, I attended Nova Southeastern University, where I obtained my Masters degree in Teaching with a Minor in Technology. I worked in the Mental Health field before I began my educational career in Lincoln County Schools as a Reading Teacher Assistant and bus driver. I worked as a high school teacher in Catawba County for 7 years before receiving my Administrative license from UNC-Charlotte.

I have gained some valuable experience as an assistant principal in all three educational levels. I was extremely excited to move to Gaston County Schools in February of 2017 to continue my career as an administrator at Southwest Middle and Holbrook Middle. In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my family doing church activities, photography, and collecting turtles. I am honored to serve as the principal here at Cherryville Elementary and I look forward to building positive relationships with the students, parents, and staff.
