Dr. Bryan Denton
Dr. Denton is a native of Belmont, NC, and graduated from South Point High School. He holds a bachelor’s degree in political science from Wake Forest University, as well as a master’s degree in school administration and a doctoral degree in educational leadership from Gardner-Webb University.
Prior to beginning his career in education, Dr. Denton worked on the staff of the United States Senate Committee on Foreign Relations in Washington, DC. He eventually held the position of Deputy Director of Protocol & Foreign Travel.
Dr. Denton’s career in education began at his alma mater, South Point High School. He was a member of the faculty in the social studies department, and taught courses such as AP U.S. Government & Politics; Civics & Economics; Law Related Studies and Current Events. Dr. Denton was also an adviser to the Student Council, a member of the School Improvement Team, and assisted with the Miss South Point Scholarship Pageant.
Dr. Denton began his administrative career during the 2006-2007 school year as an assistant principal at W.C. Friday Middle School in Dallas, NC. He served at W.C. Friday until the end of the 2009-2010 school year, at which time he was named principal at John Chavis Middle School in Cherryville, NC. After five years of service at Chavis, Dr. Denton was named principal of Cramerton Middle School beginning with the 2015-2016 school year. Following three years at Cramerton, Dr. Denton became principal of Hunter Huss High School in the 2018-2019 school year.
Dr. Denton is a member of the NC Association of School Administrators and the Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development. In the community, Dr. Denton serves as a member of the Gaston County Juvenile Crime Prevention Council.
