Lowell Elementary earns accreditation as a quality school
At Lowell Elementary, the students, teachers, staff, and parents take pride in setting a high standard. By piloting and implementing the Lucy Calkins Reader’s Workshop Model, the school introduced a program that has become the program for reading instruction throughout Gaston County Schools. Now, Lowell is piloting the Lucy Calkins Phonics Program as well. As an Innovation Station school, students are given the opportunity to solve real-world problems using the engineering design process. Between these innovative programs, a large selection of extracurricular activities, and having a highly-qualified staff, the school’s end-of-grade proficiency scores have been in the top 10 among Gaston County elementary schools for two years in a row. Congratulations to Lowell Elementary School on earning accreditation as a quality school.
