Mrs. Lackey has been an educator for over 20 years.  She has spent more than ten years teaching at W.B. Beam Intermediate School. She is married to Randy and they have three children: Jake, Jordan and Jana. She loves sea turtles, the beach, triathlons, running, crossfit and reading.

I am so excited to be the Art teacher this year at both Beam Intermediate and Tryon Elementary. I have been a 2nd grade and  Kindergarten teacher at Tryon and a Teacher Assistant before that at Cherryville Elem.  This is my 26th year working for Gaston Co. Schools. I have a 24 year-old daughter, McKenzie and a 22 year-old son, Colby who both attended Beam Intermediate.  I have been married to  my husband Mike for  29 years . I attended Tryon Elementary as a kid and have lived in Cherryville all my life. I attended East Carolina University and received my Teaching degree from Gardner Webb University.

We have a small farm with lots of animals that I enjoy feeding and spending time with.  I also enjoy gardening, canning, fishing, hunting, crafting  and spending time with my family.

Hello, I’m Melissa Hawkins, and I am excited to be a part of the W. B. Beam Intermediate community. As I embark on this new chapter as your Content Teacher, I look forward to collaborating with colleagues, supporting students, and contributing to the vibrant academic community. 

I hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education from Belmont Abbey College, and my passion for teaching has been a driving force since the beginning of my career in 2003. My journey in education includes two years of experience working with exceptional children (E.C.) students at the middle school level and working in elementary grades spanning from first through fifth.

My husband, Shane, is a teacher at East Gaston High School. We have two daughters, Miranda and Alexis. Miranda is married and works for Gaston County Social Services, and Alexis is a registered nurse (RN). I enjoy spending time with family and friends, reading, and hiking to waterfalls. I love anything to do with North Carolina, especially the Outer Banks. 

I believe in the power of education to transform lives and empower individuals to reach their fullest potential. Together, I'm confident we can create meaningful and impactful educational experiences for all learners.

Hello! I am Amy Grant. I am one of the custodians here at W.B. Beam Intermediate. I have been at Beam since 2017. I take a lot of pride in keeping our school clean and beautiful.  

In my free time, I like decorating, landscaping and doing all kinds of projects. My newest adventure is raising chickens and goats. I also like to ride my horse, Trixie, when I have time.

Hello! I am Mr. Glenn Willis. I am the head custodian here at WB Beam Intermediate. I have been here since our school opened in 2004. I have been with Gaston County Schools for 21 years this September. I really take pride in keeping our school the cleanest in Gaston County. I appreciate students and staff members who help take care of our school.

My wife Sara have been married for 40 years. We have two children, Glenn III and Arabella. I also have five grandchildren - Levi and Loralei, Freya, Sylvia and Barrett.

Hello! My name is Clarissa Roseboro. I’m a Cleveland county native. I graduated from Gardner Webb University, where I received a BS in Healthcare Management. I am currently at Western Carolina University pursuing my MAT in Special Education. This is my 4th year teaching, and my second year teaching at WB Beam intermediate. Prior to that, I was an EC Teacher Assistant for 2 years, which inspired me to want to become an EC Teacher. I have a dog named Tiny. I enjoy shopping, spending time with my family and friends, my dog, and going to church. I am very excited about joining the Beam family.
