South Point HIgh School earns accreditation as a quality school
South Point is a true community school. The school plays an important role in the Belmont community and has a strong relationship with many community partners. The majority of the staff at South Point has more than 10 years of experience in education, while 37 percent have advanced degrees. And, if you haven’t heard, South Point has Bobbie Cavnar, who earned attention as the North Carolina Teacher of the Year and the NEA Foundation’s National Teacher of the Year. The school has award-winning band, chorus, art, and JROTC programs as well as a yearbook class that consistently wins top honors. Additionally, the school consistently has conference champions in many different sports with student athletes excelling in the classroom as well. Eighty-six percent of South Point graduates go on to schools of higher education with the Class of 2018 earning more than 8.5 million dollars in scholarships.
