Tryouts will be offered twice during the month of June. There will be tryouts from 9AM-12 PM Monday and Tuesday June 5th and 6th with tryouts occurring on Wednesday June 7th from 10AM-12 PM. There will be another tryout session offered from 12-3 PM Wednesday and Thursday June 21st and 22nd with tryouts occurring Friday June 23rd from 1-3PM. The final squad will be announced Friday June 30th. Students are only allowed to try out once during these dates and can ONLY ATTEND ONE session. During these times, students will learn a new basketball and football cheer, a chant, a band dance, and a regular dance. Athletes will also be given time to practice their jumps and showcase any tumbling skills they may already have. Students will be expected to practice on their own at home after the sessions together, as this is often the way new material is practiced and learned—at home as an individual before coming together as a full squad. Students must be able to self-monitor their time and find the dedication and focus to practice outside of the assigned practice time to ensure that all student athletes have the time and energy for all their responsibilities. The final day during each session will be the official tryout. Students will try out in groups of two or three. In their assigned group, they will perform for a panel of judges who will score the students with a rubric. If a student has tumbling, they will perform it individually, and this will be judged in addition to their overall score.
Please read over the Cheer Handbook and Parent Letter found here to see if this is a commitment you are willing to make. Students MUST have a current physical and information form prior to participation in tryouts. Additionally, students that plan on trying out should have 2 current teacher recommendations (found here) completed before tryouts.
