Duke TIP

  • Duke Talent Identification Program Each fall, Duke University invites eligible 7th grade students from across the country to participate in their Talent Identification Program, known as Duke TIP. All 7th grade students are screened according to their 5th and 6th grade End-of-Grade tests, and IQ tests. Students must score in the 95th percentile in order to be eligible to participate in the program. After eligibility is determined, Duke University provides students with the opportunity to take either the SAT or ACT, both college admission exams.

The largest program of its kind, Duke TIP helps students identify academic strengths, develop abilities and interests, and celebrate achievements as they look ahead into the future. Duke TIP assists families in determining how advanced their students' academic abilities are, and what level of educational challenge is appropriate.

Participating in Duke TIP is an honor. According to their scores, students may be eligible to attend summer programs, win scholarships, and more! At the very least, participation in Duke TIP provides students with an advantage by allowing them the opportunity to  take the SAT/ACT before entering high school.
