Ms. Savanna Abernathy
Savanna Abernathy was appointed to serve as an assistant principal at Pleasant Ridge in July of 2023. She is a graduate of Gaston County Schools. She received her undergraduate degree in Elementary Education from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. She completed her Master's degree in Executive Leadership at Gardner Webb University through the Superintendent's Leadership Academy. Mrs. Abernathy is National Board certified and mental health first aid certified. During her time in the classroom, she was named as a top five finalist for Gaston County New Teacher of the Year as well as Gaston County Teacher of the Year. She is passionate about supporting students to reach their highest potential. In her spare time, she enjoys traveling, spending time with her friends and family, and doing volunteer work in the community.

Ms. Shanika Mack (Grades K & 1)
Shanika Mack was appointed to serve as an assistant principal at Pleasant Ridge in July of 2021. She is a graduate of Wayne County Public Schools. She continued her education at North Carolina State University and completed a degree in Middle Grades Education; a Masters in Curriculum Instruction and School Administration. Throughout her 14 years of educational experience, she has been selected as a NC Teaching Fellow, Beginning Teacher of the Year (Wayne County), NC Principal Fellow and Assistant Principal Finalist for Pender County Schools. Ms. Mack is currently a doctoral student studying educational leadership.
Ms. Mack is originally from Goldsboro, NC and is a tride and true North Carolina State University fan! As an educator for 15 years, she is a lifelong learner and strives to help students feel valued, welcomed, and loved. She believes that every student has the ability to be successful in life and it is the duty of educators to nurture their talents. She enjoys listening to music, singing, spending time with family, traveling, and watching documentaries.
