Mr. Shawn Czerkis (Grades 4 & 5)

Shawn Czerkis was appointed to serve as an assistant principal at Pleasant Ridge in July of 2020. In August of 2022, Mr. Czerkis began his third year as an assistant principal at PRES, his tenth year as an employee of Gaston County Schools, and his twelth year as an educator.

Mr. Czerkis was born and raised in Detroit, Michigan. He attended Grand Valley State University in Grand Rapids, Michigan, where he graduated in 2012 with a Bachelor's Degree in Secondary Education with teaching endorsements in social studies and language arts for grades 6-12. In 2019, he earned his Master's Degree in K-12 School Administration from Gardner-Webb University in Boiling Springs, NC.

Mr. Czerkis's goal is to motivate students to be lifelong learners and for them to be ready for the next level of their education. All this while ensuring that all students reach their highest potential and grow into model citizens. Additionally, it is his goal to foster and facilitate the healthy social and emotional development of each child. In his free time, Mr. Czerkis enjoys playing sports, running, reading, and spending time with family and friends.

Ms. Shanika Mack (Grades K & 1)

Shanika Mack was appointed to serve as an assistant principal at Pleasant Ridge in July of 2021. She is a graduate of Wayne County Public Schools. She continued her education at North Carolina State University and completed a degree in Middle Grades Education; a Masters in Curriculum Instruction and School Administration. Throughout her 14 years of educational experience, she has been selected as a NC Teaching Fellow, Beginning Teacher of the Year (Wayne County), NC Principal Fellow and Assistant Principal Finalist for Pender County Schools. Ms. Mack is currently a doctoral student studying educational leadership. 

Ms. Mack is originally from Goldsboro, NC and is a tride and true North Carolina State University fan! As an educator for 15 years, she is a lifelong learner and strives to help students feel valued, welcomed, and loved.  She believes that every student has the ability to be successful in life and it is the duty of educators to nurture their talents.  She enjoys listening to music, singing, spending time with family, traveling, and watching documentaries.

Ms. Kimberly Parker (Grades 2 & 3)

Kim Parker was appointed to serve as an assistant principal at Pleasant Ridge in June of 2022. She is entering her 19th year in education. She is the mother to a wonderful 6-year-old named Olivia. 

Ms. Parker believes every child, given the right support systems, can be successful and grow to meet their highest potential. She and the rest of the admin team look forward to a wonderful year!
