I am from Youngstown, Ohio.  I graduated from Youngstown State University, in 2001, with a degree in Elementary Education, grades K-8. I have been teaching for 17 years and began my teaching career in Naples, Florida where I taught 2nd grade for two years. From there,  I moved here to North Carolina, in 2005, and taught 1st, 2nd, and 4th grade in both Union and Mecklenburg counties for 14 years.  I came to Gaston County last school year, and have been teaching 3rd grade here at Brookside Elementary. My husband is a High School History teacher in CMS.   In my spare time, I enjoy running!  I have completed many half-marathons and am proud to say I am a MARATHONER!

Mrs. Dellinger

My name is Melanie Dellinger and I am so excited to be at Brookside. I have been married since 2003 and have 3 wonderful children. I have a degree in Biblical Studies and a degree in Early Childhood Education. I love my family and my 2 dogs very much. I enjoy reading, teaching/organizing kids church, singing, Disney, the mountains, building things with my husband, and doing pretty much anything crafty. One of the reasons I wanted to join the education world is that I love to see that “aha” moment in a student’s eyes! I can’t wait to see what this year has in store at Brookside!
