Degrees and Certifications:
My name is Amy Smith and I am so excited to be the assistant principal at New Hope Elementary. Coming to New Hope each day is such a joy as we welcome the best students in Gaston County Schools. My passion is teaching children and supporting teachers and learning and I can only hope that it shows in everything that I do! I love being part of helping to mold lives through loving and interacting with students in a positive way. I want students and teachers to see the best of me each and every day and I want to inspire them to be their best as well.
I have been an educator for 24 years, serving the last seven years as an administrator. The last 4 years I have been with GCS, serving as the assistant principal at Kiser, Pleasant Ridge and now at New Hope Elementary. Previously, I spent most of my career as a classroom teacher and administrator with Cleveland County Schools.
My family relocated to Belmont from Kings Mountain three years ago. I am a proud mom to three beautiful children that I love dearly, Hanna, Chase and Kassie. Hanna is a flight attendant and currently lives in Florida. Chase and Kassie are college students. I also have 4 fur babies that I love dearly. I enjoy decorating, crafting, shopping and working with the three year olds at Parkwood Baptist Church each Sunday morning.
I look forward to partnering with you to educate, support, inspire, and to raise the bar at New Hope Elementary.
