Administrative appointments and transfers for 2023-2024

The following administrative appointments and transfers in Gaston County Schools have been approved for the 2023-2024 academic year:

Principal Appointments

▪ Garey Coke was appointed to serve as the principal of Lingerfeldt Elementary School.  He previously served as an assistant principal at Southwest Middle School.

▪ Melissa Knick was appointed to serve as the principal of Southwest Middle School.  She previously served as an assistant principal at Bessemer City High School.

▪ Sharon Potts was appointed to serve as the principal of H.H. Beam Elementary School.  She previously served as the director for alternative education.

Principal Transfers

▪ Josh Allen was transferred to serve as the principal of South Point High School.  He previously served as the principal at the Gaston Early College High School. 

▪ Glenn Cook was transferred to serve as the principal of the Gaston Early College High School.  He previously served as the principal at Southwest Middle School.

▪ Ryan Smith was transferred to serve as the principal of Warlick Academy.  He previously served as the principal at H.H. Beam Elementary School.

▪ Page Willis was transferred to serve as the principal of W.C. Friday Middle School.  She previously served as the principal at Lingerfeldt Elementary School.

Assistant Principal Appointments

▪ Savanna Abernathy was appointed to serve as an assistant principal at Pleasant Ridge Elementary School.  She previously served as a teacher at Bessemer City Primary School.

▪ Laura Benson was appointed to serve as an assistant principal at Ashbrook High School.  She previously served as an instructional specialist at Warlick Academy.

▪ Tiffany Gardner was appointed to serve as an assistant principal at Southwest Middle School.  She previously served as a teacher at Bessemer City Middle School.

▪ Carole Hamblin was appointed to serve as an assistant principal at Hunter Huss High School.  She previously served as a principal fellow intern at Hunter Huss High School and a teacher at York Chester Middle School.

▪ Daphne Jordan was appointed to serve as an assistant principal at Grier Middle School.  She previously served as the dean of students at York Chester Middle School.

▪ April McGee was appointed to serve as an assistant principal at Hunter Huss High School.  She previously served as a principal fellow intern and an instructional facilitator at Bessemer City Middle School.

▪ Angie Molla was appointed to serve as an assistant principal at Lingerfeldt Elementary School.  She previously served as a teacher at Catawba Heights Elementary School.

▪ Wanda Reid was appointed to serve as an assistant principal at Grier Middle School. She previously served as the dean of students at Grier Middle School.

▪ Meghan Sneed was appointed to serve as an assistant principal at Bessemer City High School.  She previously served as a teacher at John Chavis Middle School.

▪ Molly Tessnear was appointed to serve as an assistant principal at Woodhill Elementary School.  She previously served as a principal fellow intern at Woodhill Elementary School and a teacher at Hunter Huss High School.

▪ Dustin Weaver was appointed to serve as an assistant principal at Stuart W. Cramer High School.  He previously served as a principal fellow intern and teacher in Lincoln County Schools.

▪ Marcia White was appointed to serve as an assistant principal at Holbrook Middle School.  She previously served as a teacher at Robinson Elementary School.

Assistant Principal Transfers

▪ Shawn Czerkis was transferred to serve as an assistant principal at W.C. Friday Middle School.  He previously served as an assistant principal at Grier Middle School.

▪ Andrew Howard was transferred to serve as an assistant principal at South Point High School.  He previously served as an assistant principal at W.C. Friday Middle School.

▪ Doneen Johnson was transferred to serve as an assistant principal at Ashbrook High School.  She previously served as an assistant principal at Woodhill Elementary School.

▪ Jennifer Lancaster was transferred to serve as an assistant principal at John Chavis Middle School.  She previously served as an assistant principal at Holbrook Middle School.

▪ Amber Lawson was transferred to serve as an assistant principal at Costner Elementary School.  She previously served as an assistant principal at Mount Holly Middle School.

▪ Anna Miller was transferred to serve as an assistant principal at Mount Holly Middle School.  She previously served as an assistant principal at Costner Elementary School.

▪ Michelle Pettiford was transferred to serve as an assistant principal at Hunter Huss High School.  She previously served as an assistant principal at Ashbrook High School.

▪ Amber Tuttle was transferred to serve as an assistant principal at H.H. Beam Elementary School.  She previously served as an assistant principal at Ashbrook High School.

Central Office/District Leadership

▪ Dr. Elizabeth Folger was appointed to serve as the interim associate superintendent for academic services.  She previously served as the deputy superintendent of Onslow County Schools before retiring in December 2022.

▪ Dr. Morgen Houchard was appointed to serve as the interim executive director for human resources.  He currently serves as the executive director for auxiliary services for Gaston County Schools and will retain those duties while serving in the interim executive director for human resources position.
