• Administrative appointments announced at Board meeting

    The following Gaston County Schools administrative appointments/transfers were announced during the Gaston County Board of Education meeting on Monday, December 18, 2023.  The appointments are effective January 1, 2024.

    Principal Appointments

    • Erik Barton was appointed to serve as the principal of Woodhill Elementary School.  He previously served as an assistant principal at Southwest Middle School.
    • Dr. Josh Bromley was appointed to serve as the principal of Belmont Middle School.  He previously served as an assistant principal at Forestview High School.
    • Beth Crosby was appointed to serve as the principal of H.H. Beam Elementary School.  She previously served as an assistant principal at H.H. Beam Elementary School.
    • NaKishia Glenn was appointed to serve as the principal of Tryon Elementary School.  She previously served as an assistant principal at North Gaston High School.
    • Doneen Johnson was appointed to serve as the principal of Bessemer City High School.  She previously served as an assistant principal at Ashbrook High School. (Dr. Sheila Wyont, the current principal at Bessemer City High School, is retiring).
    • Curtis Mitcham was appointed to serve as the principal of Mount Holly Middle School.  He previously served as an assistant principal at Ashbrook High School.

    Principal Transfer

    • Susan Redmond was transferred to serve as the principal of Highland School of Technology.  She previously served as the principal at Belmont Middle School.  (James Montgomery, the current principal at Highland School of Technology, is retiring.)

    Central Office/District Leadership

    • Anarah Henderson was appointed to serve as executive director for academic services – elementary education.  She previously served as the principal at Woodhill Elementary School.
    • Meghan LeFevers was appointed to serve as director for exceptional children.  She previously served as the principal at Tryon Elementary School.
    • Dr. Sharon Potts was appointed to serve as director for alternative education.  She previously served as the principal at H.H. Beam Elementary School.
    • Tyler West was appointed to serve as executive director for academic services – elementary education.  She previously served as the principal at Mount Holly Middle School.
