Gaston County Schools Honors School Nutrition and Transportation Employees

Gaston County Schools recently held two special banquets to celebrate the hardworking employees in our School Nutrition and Transportation departments. These events were a way to say thank you to the dedicated staff members who play a vital role in supporting our schools every day.

Guests enjoyed an evening filled with dinner, fun activities, and door prizes. Both banquets included special recognitions to highlight the outstanding contributions of our employees.

In the School Nutrition department, team members received “Years of Service” pins for their commitment to serving students. Several schools were presented with the Golden Apple Award for earning a perfect 100% on all three sanitation inspections during the calendar year. In addition, new cafeteria managers were recognized with certificates.

In the Transportation department, four bus drivers received the prestigious Tracey Lea Calhoun Award. This honor is given each year to drivers who go above and beyond to ensure the safety of our students. One winner is selected from the elementary, middle, and high school levels.

The 2024–2025 Tracey Lea Calhoun Award recipients are:

• Randy Helms, Belmont Middle School
• Ericka Gains, Belmont Central Elementary
• Terry Sherrill, Webb Street School
