Gaston County Schools recognized more than 400 business and community partners for outstanding contributions to our schools. During the annual "Salute to Business Partners" reception on May 30 at Brookside Elementary School, school leaders took an opportunity to thank the people who have gone beyond the call of duty to support education in Gaston County.
The program featured opening remarks from Superintendent W. Jeffrey Booker, who explained that programs such as the Gaston Regional Science and Engineering Fair, Evening of Excellence, Backpack Weekend Food Program, Kia Outstanding Educator Awards, and many more wouldn't be possible without contributions from the community.
"We express our sincere gratitude to each business and community organization for making the lives of children better," said Booker. "We sincerely appreciate your willingness to give, and we thank you for playing an important role in our continued success."
The program included a special performance by the Holbrook Middle School chorus.
Each business and community representative received a certificate of recognition from Superintendent Booker and Board of Education members Jeff Ramsey, Lee Dedmon, Justin Davis and Dot Cherry that features a picture of a class at Brookside Elementary.
