Gaston students achieve perfect attendance records
Gastonia, N.C. – This year, Gaston County Schools has two seniors in the Class of 2019 who have achieved either 12 years or 13 years of perfect attendance for their entire school career (kindergarten through twelfth grade).
The students were recognized during their high school graduation ceremony on June 8 for having perfect attendance and received a plaque from the Gaston County Board of Education. Each year, the Board of Education honors graduating seniors who achieve perfect attendance for either 12 years or 13 years.
The seniors recognized for perfect attendance are listed below – included is information about each student:
Katherine Bowyer (13 years of perfect attendance)
School: Ashbrook High School
Parents: John Bowyer and Emily Bowyer
College: UNC-Chapel Hill
Major: Exercise and sports science
Connor Owen Glaza (12 years of perfect attendance)
School: Forestview High School
Parents: Dr. Al and Tamara Glaza
College: Appalachian State University
Major: Cell/molecular biology
Superintendent of Schools W. Jeffrey Booker stated, “Achieving a perfect attendance record for your entire school career is a significant accomplishment. The Board of Education joins me in commending these students for this extraordinary recognition. We are very proud of them.”
