Gaston County Schools highlights outstanding seniors in the Class of 2019
Gaston County Schools is proud to highlight outstanding seniors (one for each high school) in the Class of 2019. Last week, our Outstanding Senior profiles were posted on Facebook. If you missed them, the profiles are below.

◾ Ashbrook High School
Our Outstanding Senior from Ashbrook High School is Annalise Froehlich. Editor of the school yearbook and captain of the softball team, Annalise is the first student in Gaston County to earn an Associate of Art degree from Gaston College through the Career and College Promise program. Away from the classroom, she served on the Teen Court of Gaston County, an activity that will serve her well as she goes on to Gardner-Webb University where she will major in criminal justice. Congratulations, Annalise Froehlich – an outstanding senior in the Gaston County Schools Class of 2019!
◾ Bessemer City High School
Our Outstanding Senior from Bessemer City High School is Katelyn Garrett. An excellent student with a drive for success, Katelyn has achieved an outstanding academic record and just completed the qualifications to become a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA). She plans to attend Western Carolina University where she will major in nursing, thus taking another step toward a successful career in the healthcare field. Congratulations, Katelyn Garrett – an outstanding senior in the Gaston County Schools Class of 2019!
◾ Cherryville High School
Our Outstanding Senior from Cherryville High School is J’Son Pitts. A multi-sport athlete (from football to golf and everything in between), J’Son has pushed himself to do well both on the field and in the classroom. Chosen as the prom king, he is known around the school as a great student with an amazing attitude who is always willing to help others any way he can. J’Son has signed with North Carolina Wesleyan University where he will play football this fall. Congratulations, J’Son Pitts – an outstanding senior in the Gaston County Schools Class of 2019!
◾ Stuart W. Cramer High School
Our Outstanding Senior from Stuart W. Cramer High School is Jazmyne Lee. During her time at Stuart W. Cramer, Jazmyne has set herself apart from others because of her outgoing personality, strong initiative, and drive to succeed. Chosen as the homecoming queen, she also took part in the band colorguard for all four years of high school. A nursing fundamentals student, Jazmyne will attend UNC-Charlotte and plans to pursue a career in nursing. Congratulations, Jazmyne Lee – an outstanding senior in the Gaston County Schools Class of 2019!
◾ East Gaston High School
Our Outstanding Senior from East Gaston High School is Jasper Powe. Serving as the junior band director, Jasper assisted the East Gaston band director with the beginning band. A talented musician and leader, he has won awards at numerous band competitions. He also was named the Homecoming King. Planning to attend UNC-Charlotte this fall, Jasper will continue his love of music and major in music education. Congratulations, Jasper Powe – an outstanding senior in the Gaston County Schools Class of 2019!
◾ Forestview High School
Our Outstanding Senior from Forestview High School is Mikiya Gamble. A nursing fundamentals student, Mikiya has persevered during her senior year to achieve excellence. She earned the prestigious Lewis and Elizabeth Dowdy Scholarship from N.C. A&T State University. This merit-based program provides a four-year renewable scholarship to invest in students like Mikiya who have great potential to become transformative leaders. Congratulations, Mikiya Gamble – an outstanding senior in the Gaston County Schools Class of 2019!
◾ Gaston Early College High School
Our Outstanding Senior from the Gaston Early College High School is Kimberly Queen. Through her biology class, Kimberly had the opportunity to participate in the Community College Research Project. She went on to present her project on plant growth in reflected versus direct sunlight at N.C. State University and Glendale Community College in Arizona. She plans to attend Appalachian State University this fall to pursue a psychology degree. Congratulations, Kimberly Queen – an outstanding senior in the Gaston County Schools Class of 2019!
◾ Highland School of Technology
Our Outstanding Senior from the Highland School of Technology is Jovan Sheshbaradaran. A member of the Business and Legal Pathway, Jovan serves as the student body president and a Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) officer, and he participated in moot court. In addition to his school work, he works 20 hours a week to support his family, which has helped him to understand the value of having a good work ethic. He plans to attend UNC-Chapel Hill this fall. Congratulations, Jovan Sheshbaradaran – an outstanding senior in the Gaston County Schools Class of 2019!
◾ Hunter Huss High School
Our Outstanding Senior from Hunter Huss High School is Victoria Milbee. The definition of a well-rounded student, Victoria has completed Career Academy courses in firefighter technology and EMT (Emergency Medical Technician). She has been involved in the school’s theater arts program and served as a Cadet Major for the Army JROTC. A recipient of the Daughters of the American Revolution Award, she will attend Gaston College and wants to pursue a career in the medical field. Congratulations, Victoria Milbee – an outstanding senior in the Gaston County Schools Class of 2019!
◾ North Gaston High School
Our Outstanding Senior from North Gaston High School is Charles “Ray” Martin. An effective leader in the senior class, Ray found his calling in the Army JROTC during his high school career. Completing eight JROTC credits, he has thrived within the organization to become a better student and to be a standout among his classmates. Ray will continue his experience with the military as he enlists after graduating from high school and goes on to serve our country. Congratulations, Charles “Ray” Martin – an outstanding senior in the Gaston County Schools Class of 2019!
◾ South Point High School
Our Outstanding Senior from South Point High School is Jakobe Cherry. Jakobe has spent the year studying abroad in Indonesia as part of AFS Intercultural Programs, an initiative of the U.S. Educational and Cultural Affairs Bureau. The program focuses on developing global citizens and improving cross-cultural relationships. The unique experience has given Jakobe an opportunity to see the world and understand the importance of thinking globally. Congratulations, Jakobe Cherry – an outstanding senior in the Gaston County Schools Class of 2019!
◾ Warlick Academy
Our Outstanding Senior from Warlick Academy is Kaleb Nolen. Kaleb has worked hard to accomplish his academic goals while handling the responsibilities of a full-time job. A leader on campus, he has also volunteered to help other students to meet their academic goals. Kaleb plans to attend Gaston College this fall to pursue his career ambition of becoming a veterinarian. Teachers say that Kaleb is “a great young man with admirable qualities.” Congratulations, Kaleb Nolen – an outstanding senior in the Gaston County Schools Class of 2019!
◾ Webb Street School
Our Outstanding Senior from Webb Street School is Keith Paysour. A hard worker in any task that comes his way, Keith has participated in the following school programs: Webb Street Enterprises, aquaponics, greenhouse, gardens, and Webb Waggers. He is respectful of his peers and always wears a smile. He has been accepted into the Gaston Links program at Gaston College, and you can be sure that he will continue to work hard to enjoy more success. Congratulations, Keith Paysour – an outstanding senior in the Gaston County Schools Class of 2019!
