Career Academy @ Hunter Huss High School
About the Academy
The Career Academy at Hunter Huss High School is an outstanding program that provides coursework and hands-on training to prepare students for jobs in business, trade and industry, food service, public safety, health science, technology, and other areas.
Students take classes in core subject areas and career-oriented areas with opportunities to earn industry-recognized certifications and college credit through the Career and College Promise partnership with Gaston College.
Students in the Career Academy at Hunter Huss have an advantage over their peers as they gain academic credit, career credentials, hands-on learning, and much more. When they graduate, they are ready and prepared to go on to college or join the local workforce.
Students from outside the Hunter Huss attendance area who will be in the ninth grade for the 2023-2024 school year may apply for this program. A lottery process will be used to determine the 60 ninth grade students who will attend (from outside the Hunter Huss attendance area).

School Choice Fair
Our 2023 School Choice Fair will be held at the Gastonia Conference Center on Friday, February 3 from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. and on Saturday, February 4 from 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
This is an opportunity for students and parents to drop in and learn about the 22 school choice/magnet school programs that are available in Gaston County Schools.
